Survivor Island and Klias Wetland

Make your way to the district of Kuala Penyu and hop on a boat to Pulau Tiga! The island’s claim to fame is none other than being the first ever ‘secret’ location for the hit reality series, ‘Survivor’. Hence, many refer to Pulau Tiga as Survivor Island.

*Survivor: Borneo is the first season of the United States reality show Survivor. It was originally broadcast under the name Survivor but its official title was changed to Survivor: Pulau Tiga to distinguish it from subsequent installments of the series, and then changed again to Survivor: Borneo to avoid confusion with Survivor: Palau. The show began filming on March 13, 2000 and ended on April 20, 2000. It aired later that year on CBS. It was set in the South China Sea on the remote Malaysian island of Pulau Tiga in the state of Sabah, about 6 miles (9.7 km) off the north coast of Borneo, Malaysia. The show was released on DVD on May 11, 2004.

Located just 10km off shore on the West Coast of Sabah, you can enjoy a day trip to the island but many recommend spending at least a night or two. Pulau Tiga is also famous for its therapeutic natural volcanic mud.

So wanted to reach Pulau Tiga and experience the Survivor and the Mud Bath, right?!

Klias Wetland

Located on the Klias Peninsula is the Klias Wetland, a Mangrove Forest Reserve. With the bizarre-looking proboscis monkey gaining as much popularity with the tourists as the orang utan, the Klias Wetland with its large proboscis population is fast becoming the latest ecotourism destination in Sabah.

These tree-dwelling animals normally hunt for food in the evenings so many boat cruises depart the Kota Klias jetty at around 3.00pm.Other riverside residents that may be spotted are macaques, crocodiles, moniter lizards, tree snakes and birds such as the eagle.

Back on the jetty, if you are lucky, you can enjoy a natural light show, a natural largest 'Christmas Tree' at the Klias Wetland. So do you know what is the natural light come from? Come and experience and find out the answer yourself!

Survivor Island and Klias Wetland is a journey that you must experience yourself!
